From the Lab - Neck Gear

With the Tee-Bags well on their way to being a huge hit, I have decided to try to find some uses for the leftover fabrics. My first prototype is this patchwork scarf. I LOVE IT. It is so comfy and snuggly. Perhaps it could even be a summer item, being that it is so jersey knit and relatively lightweight, not to mention that it is 100% washable . HMM.. must consult Seth...

In the mean time, please check out http://wickedmoxie.uber.com and http://moxiesteebags.uber.com . As soon as they are complete, I hosting this blog from there!! Ain't progress excellent??

Oh, and I have a squidoo too: http://www.squidoo.com/moxiesteebags

On a different note, CRAFT has been postponed until next Sunday, June 8th. It is supposed to rain ALL DAY tomorrow, so this way I will have lots of EXTRA stuff for you in a week (and I can watch the race - I'm such an effin redneck haha).

Friday Favorite - Schools Out for Summer

Today, Liz is officially a 2nd grader and she couldn't be more proud (or grown up). Not only did she complete the 1st grade today, but she also ate a hamburger for the first time, as well as made her first telephone call. They grow up so fast. :)
I let Liz choose the subject matter for this weeks list. I asked her what her favorite things about summer vacation are and she responded: "BUGS!! but not slugs! Oh and swimming in the pool everyday". So here is her list of her summer to-do list:

Sweet little lady bug - perhaps not this one - but Liz loves to catch these cute little critters.
from papermoongallery

Our nightly summer ritual is to catch at least a dozen fireflies. She then talks with them for a while before setting them free for the next night.
from mikiep

Nothing makes her more proud than snagging a butterfly (fortunately she doesn't eat them)
from madelaine

She's really too big for a "diaper cake", but she'd really flip for most of these pool side goodies.
from creativediapercakes

Liz can think about the sun and get a glowing dark tropical tan (much to her very fair sisters chagrin). But just in case - all natural, vegan sunburn relief spray

And just cause I am a sucker for shameless self-promo (and cause Liz loves them), here is an awesome Tee-Bag perfect for carrying all your necessities to the pool. Available at the freshly opened MoXie's Tee-Bags!!And a slug....eeeeewwwwww

Mamapalooza Murfreesboro 2008

Wow. I am really worn out after that, but what a blast!!

Thanks to all the great people of the 'boro who checked out my wares!! It was great to show all my swag here in town for a change without having to drag it to Nashville.

Thanks to everyone who bought Tee-bags!! They were a great hit. I am looking forward to getting the web page finished so I can show them to the rest of the world!!

Anyway, thanks again to everyone (especially Mandy for throwing the shindig together in the first place.) Next gonna rock even harder!!!

Friday Favorites - Trip to the Zoo

Today my husband and I took a day off from the grind of Wicked MoXie to accompany some 1st graders to the zoo. All in all, it was a great experience. Not only did I ride a school bus for the first time in 20 years, but I got to communicate with brilliant little minds. Children are so cool!

CherriesRockMySocks
The mackaws were the first thing we stopped and looked at. They were beautiful, but nowhere near the *bling* you see here.

TheBirdsAndBees
The zebra has to be my favorite thing to see at the zoo. They are easily the punk rock superstars (unless the zoo has a white tiger!!)

BloodAndGold
These would be right at home in the zoo gift shop. But with about a 600% "animal fund" markup, you probably ought to stick with etsy.

2CheekyMonkeys
What better way to record your zoological experiences. And the crafty folks at 2 Cheeky Monkeys have included the original story pages right in the book. How clever!

IllBeInTime
No trip to the zoo would be complete without a trip to the playground. This playground is virtually the exact opposite of the one the kids played on, but I loved all the colors.

LilyClaire
I so envy whatever lucky child will be wearing these. They look so soft and comfortable . I wish I had a pair to rest my weary feet.

Friday Favorites - Geek Chic

So today my computer was delivered (in fact I am typing on it right now). It is like christmas and a job promotion all in one!! The speed, the power, the space....
Anyway, in honor of my wonderful leap into a world beyond 64 megs of RAM, I am bringing you my favorite handmade computer accessories.

IvyLaneDesigns
Yummy!! All my notes should go in one of these. Or do I need notes cause I got so many of these in me??

GeekGear
I could get this for my pens and then I would always have pens by the computer. (Until the children come in here and touch everything like they always do and take all my stuff and loose it so when I really need it I cannot find it and yell and scream and kick the dog and take it out on my husband........) I still think I could use this.
ItyBityBags
This one is called "Video Killed the Radio Star" , which (for anyone who really knows me) is the only bit of cool trivia I know [and , oddly enough, a song that plays in my head quite often.]

KCJones
I dedicate this one to my kids. This is MY new computer. (I love you.)
In the end, I wrote this super long entry about the events leading up to and including the purchase of my new PC. When I finished I realized that it was extremely long and quite boring. Basically, a long, long time ago I decided I wanted a slim desktop with a wide-screen monitor, DVD burner and lots of SDRam for $500. In the end, that is exactly what I got. :)

Yesterday was good. Today was really good.

I would like to thank the Universe for making my dreams come true.

Today my interview was printed The Murfreesboro Post. I was so pleased with the way it turned out, and a bit overwhelmed by it's full page status.

If you are new to this blog because of the article, WELCOME. You will find links to all my work to the right. :) I hope I offer many things that you will L-O-V-E!!!

To continue the greatness of my day, I presented my creations at the monthly CRAFT event at the Lipstick Lounge today. The weather was lovely and I had a great location. I also introduced my Tee-Bag's today and got a HUGE response. I am going to have to work on my signage though because EVERYONE thought they were just t-shirts!!

For those who don't know, MoXie's Tee-Bags are recycled, re-purposed t-shirts, sewn in the style of a retail shopping bag. They were designed to replace plastic shopping bags and to provide a stylish alternative to the store "branded" Green bags. Although most of the folks wanted to buy them for a purse. :)

The Tee-Bags are not available online YET, but I hope to have them available for purchase online by the end of the week!!!

Again, thanks to the Post for including me in their publication. If you came to this site after reading the article, I would love to hear from you. Please feel free to post a comment or email me at wickedmoxie@gmail.com.
Sometimes you just have a great day.

Today was one of them.

:)

Friday Favorites - Newsworthy

I had the privilege of being interviewed this week for our local paper, The Murfreesboro Post. I was so stoked and nervous and excited. Erin (the reporter) was super cool and friendly. She asked awesome questions. :) Kelly took the pics standing on a chair, which was a first for me. The whole experience was a first for me and I hope it happens again soon.. :)
Here are some "newsworthy" items that I find keen:

It's Lipstick Time Again!!!

Craft has sprung!

FRESH TACO SALAD

Absolutely one of the greatest lunches I have ever created myself!!
A few notes: be careful with the lime juice - a little goes a long way and don't be afraid to add some jalapenos to the guac or to the meat mixture (just make sure you remove all the seeds if you don't like it really HOT).

This recipe will feed 2-3 people. Can easily be adjusted for alot more!!

INGREDIENTS
1/3 lb lean ground beef
1c. fresh chopped spinach
1 tsp. taco seasoning
1 zucchini, peeled and sliced into thick sticks
1/2 red onion, cut
1/4 red onion, finely chopped
1/2 firm tomato, diced small
2 ripe avocados
fresh cilantro
lettuce, shredded
salt, to taste
1 lime
flour tortilla
salsa
cheddar cheese (if desired)

DIRECTIONS
Step 1: Brown the meat on med-hi, adding the taco seasoning while cooking (do not add water). Pour off excess grease and add spinach. (You can add some cilantro with the spinach if you wanna.) Pour mixture onto dish with paper towel to drain.

Step 2: Using the same pan, wipe out excess grease (leave a light coating on the pan). Increase the temp to high and add 1/2 onion and all zucchini, moving the veggies almost constantly. Cook on high until onions and zucchini get slight scorch marks then reduce heat to medium and cook for about 7 minutes. (The onions need to be just past the "crunchy" stage and the zucchini should be slightly translucent.

Step 3: Prepare the guacamole. (This can actually be done ahead of time if you wish.) In a bowl, add 1/4 chopped onion, diced tomato, finely chopped cilantro (about 6-8 sprigs) and blend. Dice avocado and add to mixture, mashing slightly with a fork (avocado should remain chunky). Add salt and lime juice to taste.

Step 4: Assemble the dish. (Divide evenly into 2 or 3 dishes.) In the bottom of a bowl, line with a steamed flour tortilla. Add the meat mixture, then the zucchini and onion. Add a large handful of shredded lettuce and sprinkle with cheese, if desired. Spoon a large scoop of guacamole in the center and top with a spoonful of yummy salsa.

For added pizazz, use some blue corn chips as a colorful garnish.

Can easily be converted to a vegan dish by eliminating the meat and sauteing lots of fresh veggies with the zucchini!!

When you get toward the bottom of the bowl, roll the remaining contents into the flour tortilla and finish like a taco. MMMMMMMmmmmmmmmm.
